Winter Coat Drive for Migrants

Rebecca KAnnouncements

The City of Chicago has welcomed 20,000 migrants and asylum seekers who are being bussed and flown in from other states. Many of them have never seen snow and do not have adequate cold-weather gear.

To help assist our new neighbors who are living in the City’s shelters or sleeping on the floors of police stations and at O’Hare airport, the City of Chicago is collecting winter coats and boots.

You can support the City’s efforts by donating new or gently used winter coats or boots for all ages to the following Park District locations through Friday, December 1st:

  • Warren Park Fieldhouse, 6621 N Western Ave.
  • Portage Park Fieldhouse, 4100 N Long Ave.
  • Maggie Daley Park Fieldhouse, 337 E Randolph St.
  • Women’s Park Fieldhouse, 1801 S Indiana Ave.
  • Hale Park Fieldhouse, 6258 W 62nd St.
  • Brainerd Park, 1246 W 92nd St.
  • Morgan Park Sports Center, 11505 S Western Ave.
  • Chicago Park District Headquarters, 4830 S. Western Ave.

The Chicago Park District supports the City of Chicago in this humanitarian effort to immediately make a difference in the lives of our new neighbors experiencing their first Chicago winter.

Respectfully, the City of Chicago thanks you for your generosity and compassion.
