In her blog, “Mass incarceration and restorative justice,” Loraine Stutzman Amstutz, Mennonite Church USA denominational minister of Peace and Justice, writes, ”Restorative justice principles hold transformation as a value — transformation of people, systems and structures that oppress.” Read the rest of her blog here: mennoniteusa.org/snapshots/restorative-justice
When our beliefs feel like they are unraveling, it may feel like we are losing our faith in God altogether. Sherill Hostetter, a spiritual director with the Mennonite Spiritual Directors Network, shares how her crisis of faith led her to explore her spiritual journey through writing. Go After Those Sneaky Leaky Windows and Doors
Rather than add a space heater or crank up the whole HVAC system, get a caulking gun and hunt for gaps to fill. A little effort will keep you warmer in winter and cooler in summer and save emissions and dollars.
Shop for Companies That are Kind to Mother Earth
When you shop for clothes online, shop for companies that are kind to Mother Earth. Check their website for the “About Us” story of their commitment to sustainability, to fair practices for their workers, and to giving back (planting trees, for example). If the cost is higher than you would pay for “fast fashion,” recognize that your purchase is supporting a sea change in an industry that has been abusive to earth. MCC Thrifty 50 Challenge

Kitchen Tip of the Week
Don’t toss a paper towel after one use. Hear me out ― paper towels are so much more than one wipe and toss! If I dry my hands off with a paper towel after washing them, I air-dry the towel and use it for drying off my hands again later, wiping down the counters and drying off washed veggies. And remember, paper towels that don’t have any grease or chemicals on them are compostable. And don’t forget about using reusable kitchen towels to ease the load of paper towel pile up.
