Saturday, June 15

  • Beer and Hymns Gathering, Patty and Tim Peebles house in Rogers Park, Chicago.
    • Patty and Tim Peebles are hosting a final beer & hymn sing at their house in the Rogers Park area because they will be moving to England soon. Their address is 1528 W Farwell, Chicago, Illinois 60626.
    • Feel free to drop by any time after 3PM. If you’re not interested in the singing, please feel free to drop by earlier to say hi/goodbye. They will have a big pot of something tasty on the stove to be munched on throughout the event, and they invite people to bring their favorite (or an experiment in) vegetarian/vegan food.
    • Singing will start sometime after supper, when a critical mass appears to have been reached.
    • Bring your favorite beverage to share, food to share, your Mennonite hymnals, and friends to join in the singing.

Sunday, June 16

  • 10:30am Worship in the Woods
    • Worship will take place outdoors at the University of St. Mary of the Lake, also known as Mundelein Seminary. We will gather at 10:30am at the parking lot of the Joseph and Mary Retreat House, formerly known as the Cardinal Stritch Retreat House. Bring collapsible chairs if you want to sit during our time together.
      Note: Change in Rain Plan for Sunday
      There may be rain on Sunday so plan to bring an umbrella and one to share if you have extra. The Seminary has invited us to meet in the Joseph and Mary (aka Cardinal Stritch) Retreat House in the Library in the case of heavy rain. Please see the attached map for details.

    • During our summer series, we invite you to experience a different form of active prayer as part of our integrative focus on the life and teaching of Jesus in the Gospel of Luke. Creative Prayer by Faith McCloud is our resource alongside the lectionary readings.
